LUANG PHI DAM

There was a time when my life was covered in darkness.

I was a person who followed harmful orders, hurting others without thinking. And eventually, the pain I caused came back to hurt me. The memories of what I had done kept returning, over and over again, making me lose hope and faith in myself.

But everything changed… the day I came to Thailand.

Here, I saw a kind of goodness I had never experienced before—Thai people smiling with sincerity, living simply yet happily, offering warmth even to strangers.
One day, I walked into a temple. I saw the Buddha, met a monk, and received a simple teaching that changed my life:

> “Do good, and good will come to you.”
“From now on, how will you bring happiness to others?”

The monk called me “Black One” — not to insult me, but to remind me of where I came from.
He believed that anyone can change, no matter how dark their past may be.

So I began again.

I meditated every day, lived more mindfully, learned to be calm, learned to be kind.
My mind became lighter. My heart became happier.
I even started to gain weight — not just in body, but in joy.

And people around me started calling me “Luang Phi Dum” — “Brother Dum.”
Not because I was a real monk, but because I was a simple person who chose to walk the path of goodness.

Today, I have made a promise:

If my past was filled with hurting others,
my future will be spent bringing happiness to them instead.

Sathu. (Blessings)
